Responsive Web design is an approach whereby a designer creates a Web page that “responds to” or resizes itself depending on the type of device it is being seen through. Responsive website design is the newest branch of web design. It has come into existence because nowadays more and more users have started accessing websites via their smartphones and tablets. If a normal website is accessed via smartphones or tablets, the design elements would start breaking as they are not programmed to get adjusted as per the screen size.
Responsive Web design has become one of the hottest trends in 2013. This is due in part to the growth of smartphones and other mobile devices. Purpose of responsive design is to have one site, but with different elements that respond differently when viewed on devices of different sizes. The designing process still remains the same as website design. But there are additional technologies need to be used for HTML such as JQuery Mobile. Both paid and open source readymade frameworks are available in the market which takes the burden off the shoulders of the designers for making the website responsive.
